There’s Something About Mary (1998) - Review

They don’t make movies like There’s Something About Mary anymore, which is a shame, because this way fun as hell. Some of the gags in this film are all timers for me. The opening gag especially had my whole family rolling while watching. Even though the jokes peak early, the rest of the film is still hilarious, with stupidly fun bits, solid characters and an interesting plot. The way all these men try to scheme their way to Mary, and eventually get their comeuppance was satisfying to watch. Great performances from Cameron Diaz and Ben Stiller, it’s clever writing, and it’s creativity also help engage you as your watching. This type of gross-out romantic comedy may have gone out of style, but this film was one of the best of its kind, in all its out-dated glory.
