Entergalactic (2022) - Review

Entergalactic is a pretty great romantic comedy with some stellar direction and some beautiful animation. As I said before, the animation is beautiful. It takes a lot of influence from into the spider-verse. But I really do think it does differentiate itself, especially through the direction and through just the type of story this is. There's some really great sequences here, like the sequence with Mr. Rager through the streets, biking in space, and just a lot of great montages and musical sequences that just give a great feel to the movie. I really thought the story here was pretty refreshing, too. We don't get much romantic comedies anymore, or even romance films that much, and it's a really great breath of fresh air when it's also animated. I thought the chemistry between the two leads were pretty great as well, and I honestly surprisingly got swept up in it. The biggest issue for me is that some of the themes are dropped off as the film goes along. My knowledge of this used to be a TV series, but it was cut down to a movie length, which does leave a lot of nuance and depth and some new concepts that would be introduced in a romcom like this to be left on the cutting room floor. But even in this final form, Entergalactic delivers.
