True Lies (1994) - Review

True Lies is a pretty good action comedy, even if I was surprised just how silly it was. And by silly, I mean really silly, like hitting people in the nuts kinda silly. But it mostly works, thanks to the great comedic timing of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tom Arnold and Jamie Lee Curtis. Curtis especially is incredible in this, committed to every moment be it funny or sincere. The action here is pretty great too, from a great chase through buildings and parks, a huge shootout at a dock and a Harrier jet blowing up a building. The only real issue I had was the structure of the story, it feels like it’s one part terrorist hunting, and then forgets that to focus on the marriage issues of Harry and Helen, then boom! The bad guys are back. I feel like there could’ve been a better way to intwine the plot lines more cohesively. However, this is still a great action comedy, and another solid hit from the great James Cameron.
