The Old Man (2022) - Review
Damn, this really started off so well didn’t it? The first three episodes are excellent, with great intrigue, subtle storytelling, great performances, and down’n’dirty action. It really gets you in the mood for this slow burn spy show. And then the following episodes… oof. The episodes become way more repetitive and boring, where characters act contradictory to what was established in previous episodes. The script and dialogue become soooooo repetitive, you can tell where the conversation goes before it ends. “The rules of this game is messy”, blah blah blah. Some random metaphor is brought up and comes back around in the end of the conversation to pretend to be profound. It’s very repetitive and gets annoying fast. It also doesn’t help that the mysteries here, aren’t that mysterious. The answers are sadly obvious and aren’t as earth shattering as the show believes them to be. I would highly recommend you watch the first three episodes for some great slow burn spy thrills, but as a whole, the show is just above average.
