RRR (2022) - Review
RRR rules, and is a great gateway for more Tollywood films to reach even more audiences. The film is bombastic, epic, grandiose, ostentatious, every other word describing big. It’s the “most” in every category, and it is takes the biggest swings to entertain. The action scenes are amazing, dramatic, and shot wonderfully. The musical scenes are the same way, with the best choreography you could want. And the drama is just as bombastic. This is the most important, most epic friendship ever, between the most heroic men in existence. The most important thing is that is fully sincere in all of it. There is no shred of irony or self-deprecation here, and because of that you are instantly invested in the film. It helps that it is a genuine good story of two people at opposite sides growing a friendship, with some actual great character work from the two central actors. The first half is stronger than the second half, as a lot of the action takes place in the first half and it has a faster pace. The film is still an epic blockbuster throughout, and I can’t wait to watch more like it.
