Insomnia (2002) - Review

Insomnia is aptly titled, because it’ll keep you wide awake. *crickets*

A detective film from Christopher Nolan, it repeats Nolan’s great aesthetic of blue colour tones, mountainous setting and a concept that deals with time. The sun never sets where the film takes place, so as the film goes along you can feel the dread and anxiety of the crime that may never find a nice way to be solved. Though the film falls into genre trappings of other detective films, Insomnia counter-arcs those with great performances from Al Pacino and Robin Williams and great pacing. It may not stand out compared to the rest of Christopher Nolan’s filmography, but Nolan’s least is still some of the best in the game. This is definitely not one to sleep on.
