Eternals (2021) - Review

A film with a premise, characters and themes that have so much potential that just fail to be engaging due to rushed storytelling. Despite being 2 1/2 hours long, we don't get enough time to explore these themes and characters properly. Characters leave and don't complete their arcs, characters choose sides that don't necessarily make sense, and we are told about characters motivations rather than shown. Characters like Druig and Thena suffer a lot from this, and especially the 'main' character Sersei. We have no idea about her personality or anything. Despite so pretty fun action and great performances from Brian Tyree Henry and Kumail Nanjiani, Eternals ultimately fails at getting me attached to these new characters. But at least it is more interesting than Shang-Chi lol.
