Chernobyl (2019) - Review

This series is dreadful *shows low review score*, No, no not bad! The series does everything it can to show how grim and all-encompassing this event was, and it succeeds in every way possible. The production here is incredible. The sets, costumes, the way the show is shot, all create a sense of reality that is incomparable. The acting ensemble here is incredible, from the central characters played by Jared Harris and Stellar Skarsgard, to short appearances from Ralph Ineson and Barry Keoghan. The storytelling here is incredible, creating fear for something invisible, making you sorrowful for those caught in the aftermath, and making you root for the central characters to fix this disaster. And that’s where the dread comes in, no matter how hard they try, lies and deceit make their job harder and harder, at the cost of many. This cautionary tale is one of the most harrowing to watch, but the amount of artistic mastery on display here, is tremendous.
