Better Call Saul: Season 1 (2015) - Review
I’m finally gonna work my way through Better Call Saul, starting with Season 1. And so far, it’s great television. While it is not as fast-paced or energetic as the first season of Breaking Bad, it’s just as investing on a character, drama, and writing level. Seeing Jimmy McGill be down on his luck and attempt to balance his morality and his success is so engaging to watch. It also helps that Bob Odenkirk is born to play Jimmy, he is so charismatic in this role. The other supporting cast members are amazing too, Rhea Seehorn, Patrick Fabian, Michael McKean, and Michael Mando are all amazing. But the best performance, by far in my opinion, is Jonathan Banks. He is acting is ass off as Mike Ehrmantraut, filled with subtly, humour and tons of pure emotion. Mike’s episode this season is also the best this season, so that helps too. If you want a stellar slow-burn character drama filled with charismatic performances, then Better Call Saul: Season 1 is the show for you.
