Ambulance (2022) - Review
Ambulance is exactly what you would expect from Michael Bay. Whether you think it is good, that mileage may vary. For me, it is alright. The story is god-awful with extremely flip-floppy and stupid characters that do things when the plot needs them to do it. The actors try their best, but amazing actors like Jake Gyllenhaal come off as awkward rather than witty. Speaking of awkward, OH MY GOD THE HUMOR. It’s just bad, groan worthy most of the time, and on the rare occasion you laugh at it ironically due to how juvenile it is. But Michael Bay’s direction, despite how unclear and geographically confused it is, I just can’t deny how energetic it is. The action here is ludicrous and nonsensical, but it so exciting and thrilling. Bay’s strive to make everything look awesome is admirable, as his use of drones, editing, and lighting make the film stand out amongst others. But admire is a good word to use, because the poor writing mixed with the execution make Ambulance a mediocre experience for me.
